Iris
For environments that demand attention, that want evidence.
Characteristics
A spectacular but ultimately natural effect… Some surfaces take on a range of different shades and colors based on the angle of observation. It is an optical property: iridescence (from Iris… iris… rainbow…). It is an effect due to the interference between successive reflections of light on very thin and semi-transparent layers of any surface. In practice, on these layers, the light is reflected partly immediately, partly later (the one that travels to the next layer). The two or more beams of reflections have different phases and interfere… amplifying or attenuating the perception of some colours… This is a phenomenon that concerns many natural aspects of what surrounds us: from the clouds in the sky… to the wings of butterflies… from the feathers of a peacock… to the mother-of-pearl of shells… One of the many, wonderful “magic” of nature… of the environment that surrounds us… a real “special effect”… Today available to demanding designers looking for particular, innovative solutions…
